About the Role

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in the Fleet Services Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying a variety of vehicles and equipment used in highway maintenance and construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular maintenance inspections on trucks, highway construction equipment, and other vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and computerized systems on equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and brake repairs.
  • Develop and implement new and existing equipment or systems as assigned.
  • Enter and retrieve data on computer systems.
  • Travel to various locations throughout the province, with the possibility of overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyperson Certificate recognized by the Province of Saskatchewan in one of the following trades: Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic, Truck and Transport Mechanic, or Agricultural Machinery Technician.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
