Schlegel Villages is seeking a skilled Part-Time Culinary Specialist to join our team at Erin Mills Lodge. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for creating exceptional mealtime experiences for our residents and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook delicious and well-balanced meals in accordance with physicians' orders and nutritional guidelines.
- Lead a team of culinary staff in pursuit of a resident-centered dining experience.
- Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and advocate for residents to make informed decisions relating to their dining experience.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid food handler's certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and culinary management principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of therapeutic diets and culinary management principles.
- Completed Chef training or holds a Culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standard established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector.
