Job Summary

The Educational Developer - Indigenous Initiatives Specialist will play a key role in supporting the development of Indigenous-focused curriculum and programming at Capilano University. This position will work closely with faculty members to integrate Indigenous perspectives and knowledge into their teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with faculty members to develop and implement Indigenous-focused curriculum and programming.
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty members on effective teaching practices and strategies for integrating Indigenous perspectives into their teaching.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on Indigenous education and cultural awareness.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units within the university to promote Indigenous education and cultural awareness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations to ensure that the university's Indigenous education initiatives are informed by and responsive to community needs.
  • Provide support and guidance to faculty members on the development and implementation of Indigenous-focused research projects.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of resources and best practices related to Indigenous education and cultural awareness.
  • Participate in meetings and committees related to Indigenous education and cultural awareness.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous education and cultural awareness principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
