About the Role

Zurich Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Insurance Lawyer to join our Corporate Law team as an Underwriting Counsel. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal and underwriting support to our business, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial insurance laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal guidance on product development, including reviewing and drafting policy wording and coverage intent.
  • Work closely with our business teams to understand policy requirements and develop solutions.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging issues.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education and professional development.

Requirements

  • LL.B/J.D. and a member in good standing with a Canadian Professional Law Society.
  • More than 7 years of legal experience gained from a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial insurance laws and regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continuous change and growth.
  • French language skills are considered an asset.
