Join the Fight Against Hunger

The United Church of Canada is seeking a dedicated individual to participate in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank's Hunger on the Hill event. As a Hunger Advocate, you will join a team of like-minded individuals to learn about global hunger and climate change, and to advocate for policy changes that address these critical issues.

About the Event

The Hunger on the Hill event is an intergenerational program that brings together Canadians from across the country to learn about advocacy and policy engagement. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to connect with Foodgrains Bank staff, learn about the importance of advocacy in addressing hunger and climate change, and work in small groups to meet with MPs and discuss policy solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in online sessions and in-person meetings with MPs
  • Learn about advocacy and policy engagement in addressing hunger and climate change
  • Work in small groups to develop policy solutions and meet with MPs
  • Share your experience and insights with United Church communities of faith
Requirements
  • Be age 18+
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to and engagement in The United Church of Canada
  • Be concerned and interested in climate change and the global food system
  • Be willing to speak to United Church groups about the experience and its impact

As a Hunger Advocate, you can expect to gain valuable skills and knowledge in advocacy and policy engagement, as well as the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and make a meaningful contribution to addressing hunger and climate change.
