About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Glass Cutter to join our team at Flynn Canada Ltd. as a Glazier. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and repairing glass and other materials in various commercial and industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the type of glass, frames, and materials required for each project, taking into account factors such as safety, durability, and aesthetics.
  • Measure, mark, and cut glass to precise specifications, using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Position and secure panes in frames, ensuring a tight seal and proper alignment.
  • Instruct apprentices in the art of glass cutting and installation, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
  • Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolding, rigging, and hoisting equipment, working at heights and in challenging environments.
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, using safety equipment and following strict protocols.
  • Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes, and other lifting equipment, requiring attention to detail and physical stamina.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications, understanding complex designs and technical requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in glass cutting and installation.
  • Work site environment: At heights, outdoors, and in various locations.
  • Work setting: Commercial, industrial, and installation settings.
  • Certificates, licenses, memberships, and courses: Not required.
  • Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Computerized cutters and manual cutting techniques.
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding, handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
