Procurement Operations Leader

We are in search of a skilled Procurement Operations Leader who possesses a strategic mindset towards sourcing and purchasing. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in directing procurement initiatives, formulating purchasing strategies, and negotiating supplier contracts within a manufacturing context. Exceptional leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor less experienced team members are essential for this position.

Position Overview:

The Procurement Operations Leader plays a pivotal role within the supply chain division, concentrating on strategic sourcing, team leadership, and process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Direct the procurement team in executing strategic sourcing initiatives.
  2. Participate in daily operational tasks to facilitate the procurement team's efficiency and workflow.
  3. Establish and nurture robust relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and high-quality sourcing.
  4. Devise and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies.
  5. Negotiate terms and pricing with primary suppliers.
  6. Conduct market analysis to pinpoint optimal products and suppliers.
  7. Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to align sourcing strategies with organizational objectives.
  8. Resolve complex supplier-related issues, including warranty claims and returns.
  9. Organize shipping logistics and associated documentation.
  10. Guide and mentor junior procurement staff in best practices.
  11. Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain to ensure operational continuity and discover cost-saving opportunities.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. ASCM certification is mandatory for this role.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing setting.
  3. Experience with mechanical equipment, valves, instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, and electrical controls is crucial.
  4. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  5. Proficient negotiation and supplier management skills.
  6. Proven track record in identifying and executing cost-saving initiatives.
  7. Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in procurement and supply chain operations.
  8. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  9. Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  10. Proficient in supply chain principles and procurement software.
  11. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
  12. Detail-oriented, organized, and focused on customer service.
