Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Cashier to manage transactions and provide exceptional service in a retail environment. This role involves operating cash registers and ensuring a smooth checkout experience for customers.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
Work Environment

The position is based in a fast-paced retail setting where relocation costs may be covered by the employer. Candidates should be willing to relocate if necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate cash registers and process various forms of payment including cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards.
  • Scan items and tabulate total payments for goods or services.
  • Receive payments and provide accurate change.
  • Calculate daily or shift payments received and reconcile with total sales.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and assist in stocking shelves.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the counter area and ensure a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and address inquiries effectively.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, ensuring compliance with payment proof when necessary.
  • Participate in promotional activities and verify customer age for restricted products.
Technical Skills

Familiarity with electronic cash registers, Interac machines, and computerized inventory systems is essential.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding environment, including:

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Handling heavy loads
