About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of Camping and Outdoor Education. This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in the development and delivery of our outdoor education programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Outdoor Education team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs that meet the needs of our participants.
  • Develop and implement program strategies that align with the YMCA of Simcoe-Muskoka's mission and values.
  • Collaborate with the Director to develop and manage the program budget, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Supervise and support program staff, providing guidance and coaching to ensure their success.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including schools, community groups, and government agencies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve program delivery and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as recreation, education, or outdoor education.
  • At least 2 seasons of prior camp supervisory experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leadership and program development, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification and Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).
