We are currently seeking an Electrical Designer to enhance our Engineering Team. In this capacity, you will engage in the development and upkeep of detailed electrical designs and schematics, ensuring compliance with rigorous company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in designing reliable 12 VDC and /VAC electrical systems, addressing de-rating standards, and improving system dependability. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support the creation of standard electrical components and wire harnesses, optimizing design processes and standardization across our product offerings.

This position requires a mix of creativity and practicality. You will spearhead efforts to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of excellence and flexibility within the engineering domain. From the initial concept to final execution, your analytical and problem-solving skills will be vital in enhancing production efficiency and ensuring high product quality. Your responsibilities will extend beyond design, encompassing collaboration with your team, compliance engineers, and providing production and service support in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Electrical Designer, your duties will include:

  • Embracing opportunities to learn and develop your skills alongside a talented team while addressing production and service challenges.
  • Collaborating with engineers to produce and maintain effective, robust designs and schematics that align with: Crestline Engineering/QMS standards, customer requirements, OEM chassis specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Incorporating feedback from customers, suppliers, and internal teams to enhance product quality, reduce costs, improve delivery timelines, and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Participating in the design and maintenance of accurate electrical designs, drawings, schematics, and harnesses that comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to standards for 12 VDC and /VAC electrical systems.
  • Supporting the development of standard electrical system components and wire harnesses to minimize lead times.
  • Programming embedded systems for vehicle functionalities.
  • Driving standardization and applying engineering analysis.
  • Identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing assistance for compliance testing and certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An engineering technology diploma in design and manufacturing engineering or electrical engineering technology, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in electrical design and integration, with classroom or workshop experience considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in engineering as an advantage.
  • Proficiency in ECAD tools and drafting principles.
  • A working knowledge of PDM or PLM systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and design principles.
  • Flexibility in design modifications and adjustments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Practical experience in cable fabrication and testing.
  • An agile mindset with a strong sense of urgency.
  • The ability to visualize and conceptualize original ideas.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A self-motivated attitude with keen attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in vehicle design, automotive, and specialty vehicle electronics is beneficial.
  • Understanding of vehicle CAN bus systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
