Electrical Design Specialist Opportunity at Wood

Wood is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Specialist to join our Minerals, Metals and Life Sciences group. This is a senior position suitable for applicants with 10+ years of experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical, or similar process industries.

About the Role

  • Design and develop electrical systems for mining and metallurgical projects, ensuring compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs and solutions.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting software, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D, to create detailed designs.
  • Develop and maintain databases, preferably AVEVA AE, to track and manage design data.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and technicians, to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure all designs are accurate, complete, and meet regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program or a related Design/Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design.
  • Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan is preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical, or similar process industries.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and its application in designs.
  • Proven expertise in AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D.
  • Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with databases is beneficial, preferably AVEVA AE.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
