Position Overview
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is in search of a dedicated Anatomical Pathologist with specialized training in Breast Pathology and/or Gastrointestinal & Liver Pathology. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team of over 95 laboratory physicians and scientists, primarily operating within an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities
The Anatomical Pathologist is expected to uphold the highest standards of practice, ensuring timely service delivery in alignment with established performance metrics. Responsibilities include:

  • Active participation in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Engagement in medical education across various levels, including undergraduate and postgraduate training.
  • Collaboration within a multi-site anatomic pathology on-call rotation.

Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to the Site Chief at the Foothills Medical Centre, who is accountable to the Sector Medical Director and the provincial Chief Medical Laboratory Officer.

Qualifications
Candidates must possess an MD, eligibility for licensure in Alberta, and certification in Anatomic Pathology or General Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent certification from the American Board of Pathology. Additionally, subspecialty Fellowship training and/or Certification in Breast Pathology, Gynecological, or Gastrointestinal & Liver Pathology is required.

Additional Information
This full-time position offers a competitive remuneration package, including relocation assistance. The pathologist will operate as a contractor with APL, with compensation reflective of experience and training.
