Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at Seaspan Ferries Corporation. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations into allegations of misconduct or wrongdoing, ensuring thoroughness, fairness, and timeliness.
  • Provide conflict resolution services, facilitating dialogue and finding mutually acceptable solutions to workplace concerns.
  • Partner with external counsel as needed on complex investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain investigation plans, draft detailed reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to develop and implement employee relations strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct ER metrics and trend analysis, providing actionable feedback to reduce organizational risk.
  • Drive the evolution and improvement of the framework for managing investigations and claims, ensuring best practices and compliance.
  • Coach and influence HR Business Partners on interventions required for preventing employee relations risks.
Requirements
  • 10-15 years of experience in a complex unionized organization, conducting workplace investigations and providing conflict resolution services.
  • Strong understanding of systemic barriers, including knowledge of all forms of racism and discrimination.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, integrity, discretion, and political acumen, applying a broad perspective on human resource management and business processes.
