Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at Seaspan Ferries Corporation. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations into allegations of misconduct or wrongdoing, ensuring procedural fairness and timeliness.
  • Provide conflict resolution services to resolve workplace concerns, using options discussion, facilitation, and shuttle diplomacy as needed.
  • Partner with external counsel on complex investigations and provide investigation case and issue trend data to HRBP teams and the executive team.
  • Drive the evolution and improvement of the framework for managing investigations and claims, conducting and reporting employee relations investigations.
  • Conduct case management for ER cases and grievances, ensuring timely and thorough completion.
Requirements
  • 10-15 years' experience in a complex unionized organization conducting workplace investigations.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work with all parties in a dispute.
  • Extensive experience developing investigation plans, drafting reports, and communicating findings.
  • Strong understanding of systemic barriers related to workplace investigations, including knowledge of all forms of racism and discrimination.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff.
