BGC St. Alban's Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Children's Program Mentor. This role is responsible for providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 4-12 years in our STARS After School programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and lead group activities for children, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Create and facilitate fun, creative, and inclusive activities for all participants.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are in good working condition.
- Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner, including attendance and headcounts.
- Develop and plan programs for children between 4 and 12 years old.
- Ensure programs are safe, age-appropriate, non-competitive, inclusive, innovative, and skilled-based.
- Assist in responding to critical incidents and maintain Health & Safety standards.
- Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of participants at all times.
- Deal with conflicts and behavior management using corrective techniques.
- Report to and take direction from Program Manager and Supervisors.
- Educational background applicable to the position.
- Experience working with children 4 to 12 years old.
- Strong skills in one or more areas: sports, arts, swimming, recreation, education, health, and nutrition.
- Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic environment.
- Strong supervision and program planning skills.
- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring).
- HIGH FIVE- Principles of Healthy Child Development training.
Contract Period: September to June 2024
Hourly Wage: $15.60-$16.55/hr
Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 2:00pm-6:00pm
