Job Title: Children's Program Coordinator

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Children's Program Coordinator to join our Community Recreation Branch. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, community-based recreation programs and services to the diverse neighbourhoods of Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the overall operation, planning, and administration of adapted camps and programs.
  • Provide training and support to staff and volunteers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver programs effectively.
  • Evaluate programs to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance staff and volunteer development.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support program delivery, including maintaining inventory and ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Advocate on behalf of program participants and ensure that behaviour management techniques are implemented.
  • Interact with staff, participants, and community members to provide program information and support.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and policies.
  • Take action to address incidents, problems, and emergencies, and ensure compliance with Divisional and City policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff follow the principles of Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE) in the planning and delivery of programs.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience working with individuals with special needs/disabilities in the context of recreation programs.
  • Experience directing, planning, and administering recreational programs and staff.
  • Experience with health and safety and public health issues specific to the disability field.
  • Relevant education is an asset.
  • Certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required.
