About the Role
Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Palliative Care Physician to join our team in a part-time capacity. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Complex Continuing Care Division to provide high-quality patient care in rehabilitation, complex continuing care, and palliative care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat patients in a timely manner using appropriate resources.
- Provide expert palliative care in hospital, outpatient clinics, and community settings, with a focus on Vaughan location and local in-patient hospice.
- Participate in call coverage for complex continuing care, rehabilitation, and palliative care across both hospital sites, as well as community palliative care in established groups.
- Provide acute inpatient palliative care and consults, as well as family practice consults.
- Develop and implement palliative care services in outpatient oncology clinics and establish new palliative care outpatient clinics for patients with palliative care needs where cancer is not the primary diagnosis.
- Abide by professional staff by-laws and rules, as well as applicable legislation.
- Comply with scheduling structures to ensure 24/7 coverage of hospital and community palliative care services.
- Be available for consultation with professional colleagues and attend staff and departmental meetings.
- Perform duties and services as reasonably assigned by the Division Head or Chief of Family Practice.
- Demonstrate understanding of patient safety responsibilities and corresponding program plans, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Medical degree approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required.
- CCFP, ideally with PC designation; Hospital and Palliative Care training.
- Canadian Medical Protection Association in good standing.
- Ontario Medical Association (OMA).
