Claims Representative

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Representative to join our team at Definity. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for investigating, negotiating, and settling Senior Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of Senior Bodily Injury, Casualty, and General Liability Claims
- Engage with stakeholders to effectively manage claims, including underwriting and senior leadership
- Confirm policy coverages, investigate claims, and maintain detailed file records
- Attend mediations, pre-trials, and settlement initiatives
- Settle claims directly with claimants and Plaintiff's Counsel
- Mentor junior team members
- Provide professional, friendly, and courteous service to customers, coworkers, and vendors
- Work independently and remain calm under pressure
- Continuously develop adjusting experience and personal learnings
- Be a team player adaptable to changing environments
- Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills
Requirements:
- University degree, college diploma, or CIP designation
- Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience in Bodily Injury/Casualty Litigation
- Notable Commercial General Liability Claims handling experience, both Bodily Injury and Property damage
- Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions
- Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
- Team player adaptable to changing environments
- Passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff
- Dependable with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
- Focused on building engagement and culture
- Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
- Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset
- Atlantic licensing is an asset
