Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated BI & Data Analyst to become part of the Financial Systems Team in Toronto. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Systems, you will act as a strategic partner to our finance stakeholders, conducting data analysis through various applications (including Power BI, Power Platform, UiPath, and SQL) and leading automation initiatives within the Finance department. Success in this role requires strong communication and project management skills, along with experience in data analytics, big data exploration, and data structure management. This position demands effective customer service management and the ability to cultivate relationships among business units, the financial team, and the IT department while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to prioritize business, analytical, and informational needs while understanding project requirements.
  • Analyze financial and operational data from primary and secondary sources across various stakeholder teams and business functions.
  • Identify efficiencies in current processes and implement process improvement initiatives, including exploring new tools and technologies to enhance reporting automation.
  • Identify, analyze, interpret, and report on trends or patterns within complex data sets.
  • Explore extensive data sets to derive meaningful insights, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs.
  • Clean and validate data by reviewing extracts, reports, and performance indicators to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data quality and integrity, adhering to data governance policies.
  • Assist in preparing and developing reports, presentations, and various materials for executive-level discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar role (e.g., Data Analyst or BI Data Analyst).
  • A team-oriented individual with strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with diverse groups within the organization, including non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage high-priority projects under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies, including RPA, with a focus on process improvement and generating efficiencies.
  • Proficiency in UiPath Studio, Power Platform, Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel functionalities (including Power Query and VBA) for developing automation solutions. Experience with other BI tools is a plus.
  • Technical expertise in data mining and analysis, with a solid understanding of financial reporting concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative approaches to resolution.
