About the Role

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Prosecutor to join our team in the Regional Prosecutions office, Slave Lake. As a senior leader, you will play a key role in providing advice and support to law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders in government, in the Court, and in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prosecution and Leadership: Conduct high-profile prosecutions of serious and complex cases, ensuring that the public interest is served and a just result is obtained.
  • Advice and Support: Provide expert advice and support to law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders, helping to build collaborative environments and achieve intended outcomes.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of professional staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work effectively with victims of crimes and their families, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure that their needs are met and their concerns are addressed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)/Juris Doctor (JD) degree, extensive years of experience, and eligibility for membership in the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong litigation experience, preferably in the area of criminal law, and management experience or training. Crown Prosecutor 4: a minimum of 10+ years legal experience is required.
  • Travel and Mobility: Valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License and ability to travel within the province.
