Patient Care Aide, Tertiary Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Aide to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a Patient Care Aide, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to patients with complex mental health, neurological, and neurocognitive disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care and hygiene assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, such as eating, mobilization, and toileting.
- Carry out individualized and group social/leisure activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and social outings.
- Perform nursing procedures, such as taking weights, collecting urine and stool specimens, and applying medicated creams and dressings.
- Observe and report changes in patient health status, emotional expressions, and behaviors to nursing staff.
- Establish positive relationships with patients and their families, providing comfort and support.
- Grade 10, graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant Program, and successful completion of an Acute Care Skills Program.
- Three months recent, related experience in an acute care and/or mental health acute care environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, and organize work.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
