As a unique educational establishment, it specializes in Indigenous knowledge and offers post-secondary education for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in a culturally supportive setting.
This role involves providing essential maintenance and light custodial services for the First Nations University of Canada facilities and their occupants. The individual in this position will be tasked with a variety of maintenance and custodial responsibilities, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all. Interaction with students, staff, faculty, suppliers, vendors, and building inspectors is a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Grade 12 education, with a preference for a class five (5) power engineering certificate or at least a Fireman's level certification. A minimum of two years' experience in building maintenance is essential.
The Facility Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the effective operation of mechanical, electrical, and boiler systems;
- Maintaining outdoor areas, including lawn care and snow removal, to ensure safety and upkeep;
- Conducting inspections of buildings and structures to assess functional systems and identify malfunctions;
- Performing minor electrical and plumbing repairs;
- Carrying out minor painting and other related tasks;
- Regularly cleaning floor areas, ensuring thorough daily maintenance;
- Disposing of waste consistently;
- Identifying stains and utilizing appropriate cleaning agents for removal;
- Executing additional duties as required.
This position is governed by the CUPE Collective Bargaining Agreement.
