About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Risk Management Specialist to join our Global Wealth and Asset Management team at Company 1 - The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, implementation, and delivery of an effective risk governance and management program.
  • Lead operational risk mitigation activities, including risk and control assessments, and development of action plans to remediate control gaps.
  • Contribute to the development of Key Risk Indicators to track identified risks.
  • Collect, review, and reconcile internal and external risk incidents/loss events, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Support change management for new products, business initiatives, and strategies, assessing impact on the division's risk profile.
  • Develop close partnerships with business and functional leaders to ensure key risks are properly identified, managed, and mitigated.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Global Wealth & Asset Management level Risk Appetite Statements and associated metrics.
  • Contribute to developing a strong risk culture and work with the business to reinforce accountability and transparency across the organization.
  • Provide support for risk aggregation and reporting.
Requirements
  • Expertise in the Wealth and Asset management industry, with knowledge of various asset classes and vehicle types.
  • Significant experience in the design, implementation, and/or execution of the Operational Risk Management framework for a large financial institution.
  • A seasoned risk professional with a minimum 5 years + of risk management, finance, and/or audit experience.
  • Solid understanding of the industry and familiarity with the current regulatory environment.
  • Proven expertise and knowledge of ORM concepts and practices.
  • A strong moral compass and a commitment to high ethical standards.
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills, with ability to develop effective working relationships with business and functional partners.
  • Strong program and project management skills, with ability to independently manage multiple, conflicting priorities and deliver a quality result within established timelines.
  • A highly motivated and results-driven individual with an established track record in building effective programs and bringing strategy into action.
  • Highly developed business sense, with ability to synthesize complex information from various sources, identifying key points and issues.
  • Solid analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with ability to motivate others to implement new solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to articulate complex technical issues.
