**Job Summary**

The City of Chilliwack is seeking a reliable and skilled Public Works Utility I to assist management in achieving efficient operation of the Operations Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with labourer duties, including cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, and using manual tools.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Perform all non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties, including cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, and using manual tools.
  • Lay pipes, dig, and perform other related tasks as assigned.
  • Work under general supervision and performance will be subject to review, inspection, and evaluation by the Supervisor III - Public Works.

**Requirements**

  • Grade 8 education with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the labourer force, or an equivalent combination.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
  • Able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other staff members.
  • Able to recognize and rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards.
  • Able to perform manual work and lift heavy objects.
  • Working knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles, and methods used in labourer work.
