**The Team**:
The Chilliwack District Timber Scaling Team is a dynamic group responsible for managing all timber scaling related tasks in the Chilliwack, Sea to Sky Districts, and occasionally the Cascades District. Led by the Resource Manager, this well-established team consists of one additional Scaling Officer, who work together to ensure accurate tracking of stumpage billing, generating millions of dollars for the Crown.
**The Role**:
As the Scaling Officer, you will work closely with the scaling team to manage workloads, set objectives, and liaise with clients to ensure Ministry goals are met. Your role involves ensuring that complete and accurate scaling is performed by industry in compliance with the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, various regulations, provincial policies and regional or district procedures. This position plays a crucial role in the accurate determination of stumpage billing, impacting both the local economy and communities. **Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
- Graduation from Secondary School or equivalent
- Valid Coast Scaler Licence with required endorsements
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of related coastal scaling operational experience
- Preference may be given to those with valid Scaling Licences with required endorsements for both the Coast and Interior
Must be willing and able to:
- Successfully complete Basic Law training within six (6) months of start date for appointment as a Forest Officer and Forest Official
- Required to perform check scales and inspections outside of regular work hours
- Obtain a valid Interior Scaling Licence with required endorsements
**About this Position**:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Chilliwack.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
