Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to join our Geomatics team at GeoVerra. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for managing and performing field survey work, liaising with project managers, and establishing geodetic project control networks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Field Survey Work Management: Manage and perform field survey work with the support of survey assistants, ensuring timely and accurate completion of projects.
  2. Project Coordination: Liaise with project managers to coordinate and complete field survey work in accordance with project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  3. Geodetic Project Control Networks: Establish geodetic project control networks to the highest industry standards and in accordance with municipal, provincial, and federal standards when applicable.
  4. Precision Monitoring: Perform precision monitoring of structures, including buildings, roads, bridges, and railways, to ensure stability and detect any changes or movement.
  5. Infrastructure Surveys: Conduct surveys of infrastructure to determine position, alignment, and other necessary information for construction and/or maintenance related to transportation projects.
  6. Client Liaison: Liaise with client field representatives and landowners, and serve as a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
  7. Field Notes and Data Management: Prepare neat field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  8. Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to survey assistants.
  9. Industry Best Practices: Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures, and the innovative use of new technology.
  10. Safety Program: Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  11. Office Tasks: Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Education: Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
  2. Survey Equipment and Software: Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as total stations, digital levels, and static, rapid-static, and real-time network GNSS.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in land surveying, with a focus on precision monitoring and railway surveys.
  4. Skills: Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to develop and motivate survey staff.
  5. Physical Demands: Ability to carry, lift, and push 50lbs on a regular basis, and work outside in all weather conditions.
