About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Level Designer to join our team at Ubisoft Montréal. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging gameplay experiences for our Far Cry project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Create Levels: Develop and document levels according to artistic, creative, and design visions.
  • Conceptualize and Communicate Gameplay Experiences: Present ideas to interdependent teams and collaborate with level artists and animators to bring your created space to life.
  • Prototype and Validate Gameplay Elements: Use game engines and creation tools to prototype different scenarios and gameplay elements, ensuring their pertinence and effect.
  • Integrate Narrative Sequences and Quest Gameplay: Use scripting tools to integrate narrative sequences and quest gameplay, balancing artistic aspects with metrics and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with mission designers to ensure playability and consistency, and iterate based on comments from play testers and cross-functional team members.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A college diploma in Game Design or equivalent, with at least 7 years of experience in video game level design or related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal) and knowledge of 2D art tools (e.g. Photoshop) and 3D software (e.g. 3DS Max, Maya, or Sketchup).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to accept feedback and adapt to it.
