Job Title: Group Underwriter

Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a skilled Group Underwriter to join our team. As a Group Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish renewal pricing, analyzing experience and trends to justify pricing alternatives and respond to client inquiries.
  • Establish rates for new group business and respond to financial questions within specifications.
  • Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
  • Draft and update financial agreements.
  • Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
  • Collaborate with internal sales staff, case management, group administration, and the agent/broker/consultant network.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Minimum two years of Group Underwriting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
