Family Support Specialist - Family Connections Program
Wood's Homes is a not-for-profit mental health organization dedicated to fostering positive mental health and well-being within communities. We are seeking passionate individuals who are eager to impact the lives of children, youth, and families positively.
Position Overview
The Family Support Specialist will report directly to the Program Manager and will be tasked with providing essential family support services to children and families associated with Wood's Homes. These services encompass in-home assistance, school coordination, and community engagement as necessary. The role requires a commitment to delivering exceptional service quality while adhering to the organization's Health and Safety Management System.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive assessments to collaboratively set goals and focus areas with families.
- Advocates for families, facilitating the development of a supportive resource network involving community and professional stakeholders, while empowering families to advocate for themselves.
- Provides training for parents alongside individual and family counseling.
- Ensures the safety of all family members by intervening in crisis situations and offering necessary follow-up support.
- Engages in regular supervision, case evaluations, clinical discussions, and team meetings to ensure effective service delivery.
- Reports any workplace hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to the direct supervisor.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related discipline is essential.
- A minimum of two to four years of experience working with infants, children, adolescents, and families is required.
- Experience in family and in-home support is preferred.
- Case management experience is advantageous.
- A valid, non-GDL class 5 driver's license and access to transportation are necessary.
- Personal suitability is crucial.
