Family Connections Counsellor

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Alberta, dedicated to building good mental health and well-being in our communities. We are seeking a temporary full-time Family Support Counsellor to join our Family Connections team.

Role Summary:

The Family Support Counsellor will work with children and families in the care of Wood's Homes, providing in-home support, school liaison, and community coordination as needed. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services and meeting the requirements of our Health and Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct program-related assessments and establish goals and areas of focus with families.
  • Advocate for families and support the development of a network of resources with the community and other professionals.
  • Provide parent skills training and individual and family counselling.
  • Ensure the safety of all family members by intervening in crisis situations and providing follow-up care as required.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, case reviews, clinical rounds, and team meetings to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Report workplace hazards and incidents to their supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum two to four years' experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents, and families.
  • Family and in-home support experience preferred.
  • Case Management experience is preferred.
  • Full, non-GDL class 5 driver's license and own transportation required.
