Family Connections Counsellor

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Alberta, dedicated to building good mental health and well-being in our communities. We are seeking a temporary full-time Family Support Counsellor I to join our Family Connections team.

Role Summary:

The Family Support Counsellor I will provide family support services to children and families in the care of Wood's Homes. This includes in-home support, school liaison, and community coordination as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional delivery of high-quality services and adherence to our Health and Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct program-related assessments and establish goals and areas of focus with families.
  • Advocate for families and support the development of a network of resources with the family, community, and other professionals.
  • Provide parent skills training and individual and family counselling.
  • Ensure the safety of all family members by intervening in crisis situations and providing follow-up care as required.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, case reviews, clinical rounds, and team meetings to ensure effective Family Support services.
  • Report workplace hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to their direct supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in one of the Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum two to four years' experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents, and families.
  • Family and in-home support experience preferred.
  • Case Management experience is preferred.
  • Full, non-GDL class 5 driver's license and own transportation required.
  • Personal suitability.
