Position Overview:
The Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of electrical and instrumentation engineering related to dry vacuum pump and liquid ring pump/compressor systems. This role ensures that all project goals, including safety, technical accuracy, budget constraints, and timelines, are successfully achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and interpret electrical and instrumentation specifications to ensure compliance with global standards and safety regulations. Guide designers and technicians throughout the phases of conceptual design, production, and testing. Contribute to the creation of electrical schematics, Bill of Materials (BOMs), control panel layouts, junction box designs, and ladder logic diagrams. Evaluate and endorse electrical designs, including drawings and BOMs. Collaborate with various engineering disciplines and departments such as procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing. Aid in the formulation of control narratives or operational sequences. Assess vendor quotations and proposals. Provide insights for the electrical, instrumentation, and controls sections of the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals for end users.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. At least 2 years of experience in industrial electrical design, preferably within the chemical, oil, and gas industries. Proficient in instrumentation including control valves, flow meters, and various transmitters (pressure, temperature, and level). Strong understanding of instrumentation, electrical systems, and control mechanisms. Proven design experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Familiarity with relevant national and international standards applicable to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Competent in NEC, NFPA, CSA, FM, UL standards, as well as P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams. Proficient in E-Plan, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, fieldbus topology, and PLC/HMI programming software.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience with rotating machinery and pumping systems. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Ontario. Knowledge of process piping systems and related equipment, including vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
