Job Summary

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Night Watch Security Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for staff living on campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting regular surveillance, responding to incidents, and maintaining a professional and confidential demeanor at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hourly foot patrols within the assigned building to ensure a secure and disturbance-free environment.
  • Monitor all persons entering the building and enforce access policies and procedures.
  • Document hourly patrols and assist in documenting incidents/occurrences as required.
  • Work with CCTV software to monitor the building and surrounding area.
  • Respond to situations when they arise, providing approved solutions or contacting Banff Centre Security Services or the appropriate authorities for assistance if necessary.
  • Perform clerical and office duties as required, with a high standard of neatness and accuracy.
  • Comply with health and safety policies and practices at all times.
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school and 6+ months of related experience.
  • Ability to conduct lengthy foot patrols of a multi-storied building.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated observation skills, and decision-making abilities.
  • Adequate computer skills for completion of administrative tasks and reporting procedures.
  • Recognize and demonstrate the need for initiative in dealing with and resolving problems.
  • Respond to contentious or highly sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Ability to work alone independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal effectively with confidential matters.
  • Current certificate for Standard First Aid.
  • A valid driver's license/clear driving record.
Working Conditions
  • The Night Watch Security Officer will work an 8:00 pm to 4:00 am shift. Working on weekends and holidays may be required.
Benefits
  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
  • This position pays $18.61 to $19.54 per hour working up to 37.5 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
