Job Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Student Systems Integration and Special Projects Manager. This position plays a critical leadership role in planning, development, and evaluation of integrated student systems in the APS Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Oversight
    • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for UWaterloo Portal, aligning with the APS and IST strategies.
    • Collaborate with IST management to create annual plans for UWaterloo Portal development features.
    • Engage with key campus partners to communicate strategic content and emergency notifications.
  • Project Management
    • Lead and manage projects within the APS portfolio, from initiation to closure.
    • Develop and monitor project plans, setting realistic timelines and milestones.
    • Report regularly on project goals and status to key stakeholders.
  • Community Management
    • Plan student engagement opportunities and assess initiatives.
    • Lead the support strategy for the UWaterloo Portal community of users.
    • Provide guidance on enhancing UWaterloo Portal for additional audiences.
  • Trend Analysis and Best Practices
    • Maintain a clear understanding of student audience technologies, trends, and communication preferences.
    • Collaborate with APS colleagues and campus partners to understand emerging student needs.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and/or diploma in program/project management.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate is an asset.
    • 5+ years of experience in a technology project or project management role.
    • Experience in engaging internal and external stakeholders.
    • Experience and knowledge of web mobile app UI/UX design principles.
    • Experience and knowledge of accessibility requirements.
    • A record of and commitment to participating in ongoing learning and engagement in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility.
    • Experience writing copy for a student audience.
    • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodology is an asset.
    • Advanced: MS Office suite of products.
    • Intermediate: email marketing campaign and distribution platforms.
    • Intermediate: web content management system.
    • Advanced: web-based project management platforms.
    • Intermediate: social media platforms and tools.
