About the Role

The First Nations Health Authority is seeking an Indigenous Educator, Harm Reduction to support the implementation of regional opioid/overdose response plans by delivering harm reduction education and training to community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver harm reduction education and training to community under the direction of the Regional Manager, Mental Health & Wellness
  • Work closely with the Regional Mental Wellness team to deliver and adapt as needed, the core curriculum in the Opioid Overdose Response educational model
  • Collaborate and liaise with provincial teams in the OCMO and OCNO, Health Directors, First Nation leadership, First Nation communities, and federal and provincial health and wellness system partners
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Recent, relevant and significant experience in the area of Indigenous harm reduction
  • Experience working with Indigenous leadership, health professionals and communities
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care/practice, understanding of intergenerational effects and impacts of colonization, and knowledge of the Opioid Overdose Response in relation to community or Indigenous Health
