About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join BMO as a Mortgage Business Development Specialist. As a key member of our Retail Banking Sales and Service team, you will play a critical role in cultivating and building relationships with a third-party network of referral sources to drive new mortgage business and increase BMO's share of the home financing market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and Pursue Sales Opportunities: Actively search for sales opportunities to achieve individual sales and profitability goals, and proactively contact realtors and referral sources to discuss client and realtor needs.
  • Develop and Execute Marketing Programs: Assist with the implementation of targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other initiatives to drive business results.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Establish and enhance relationships with referral sources, realtors, and other stakeholders to generate referrals and drive business growth.
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Serve as a customer advocate during application and processing activities, and provide marketing, event coordination, and general administrative support to maintain positive and ongoing contact with the broader referral network.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Industry Developments: Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations, and gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Liaise with various BMO teams and customers to ensure satisfactory completion and/or fulfillment of the home financing application, and participate in projects and other activities designed to improve the customer experience.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience: Typically between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of portfolio management and related credit qualification standards, policies, and procedures, as well as strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the broader real estate industry and mortgage market, as well as specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, influence skills, and the ability to work independently.
