Fish Processing Plant Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our team at Quin-Sea Fisheries as a Fish Processing Plant Worker. This is a seasonal position that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unload fish and shellfish from fishing vessels and transport them to the work area
  • Use forklifts to transport unloaded fish and shellfish from fishing vessels
  • Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing
  • Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight and pack fish in ice
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas
  • Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines
  • Sort fish according to species, weight and destination
Work Environment:

The work environment is noisy, with odours, cold/refrigerated temperatures, and wet/damp conditions. The work site is outdoors, and the individual must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and reliability
