Fish Processing Plant Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our team at Quin-Sea Fisheries as a Fish Processing Plant Worker.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unload fish and shellfish from fishing vessels and transport them to the work area.
  • Use forklifts to transport unloaded fish and shellfish from fishing vessels.
  • Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing.
  • Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice.
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas.
  • Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines.
  • Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination.
Work Environment:

The work environment is noisy, with odours, cold/refrigerated temperatures, and wet/damp conditions. The work site is outdoors.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, and standing for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
