What We Offer:
As a key member of the Architecture Department, the Architectural Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering architectural services while enhancing the Homeowner Experience. This position involves liaising with external partners such as architects and structural engineers, as well as collaborating with various internal departments including Marketing, Purchasing, Décor, Finance, Land, and Construction to elevate the Mattamy brand. All design work is conducted through external architects, and this role reports to the Director of Architecture within the Ottawa Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist team members in achieving departmental objectives as directed by the Architectural Project Manager.
- Prepare and review budgets, along with quarterly estimated cost reports for each community.
- Coordinate and revise architectural drawings to ensure compliance with Mattamy standards and Ontario Building Code (OBC) for building permits.
- Manage the revision process for working drawings, structural updates, municipal feedback, and subcontractor comments, providing updated documentation to the Construction team.
- Ensure architectural drawings align with marketing materials and address any discrepancies with relevant departments.
- Engage in Value Engineering for new designs.
- Create architectural memos, details, and drawings for internal staff and external consultants as needed.
- Compile lists of lot upgrades based on internal guidelines and coordinate with architectural firms.
- Conduct site visits to enhance the accuracy of working drawings and review exterior finishes.
- Oversee the electronic management and distribution of architectural drawings and construction documents.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Architectural Technology from a Community College or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience in construction or architecture, preferably in residential projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information visually through architectural drawings.
- Proficient in drawing applications, particularly AutoCAD.
- Skilled in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Detail-oriented with a keen ability to verify document accuracy and communicate necessary changes.
- Proven ability to adapt to rapid changes and provide creative solutions to challenges.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with strong multitasking and management capabilities.
- Ability to coordinate and inspire both internal and external stakeholders towards shared objectives.
