Job Title: Architectural Technologist

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our team at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting our staff with internal consultation and support in developing sustainable design approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop highly efficient building envelopes and their details to meet green certification standards for projects.
  • Assist our aviation division in coordinating with consultants and clients on sustainable approaches.
  • Create 2D and 3D models, prepare proposals, analyze technical documents and reports, tender contracts, and assist in supervising construction projects.
  • Prepare working drawings, supervise architectural technical staff, write specifications, monitor and inspect work, estimate costs and materials, construct architectural and display models, assist in design development, prepare presentation graphics and drawings, and consult on sustainable approaches to building design.
Requirements:
  • College diploma, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years in architectural technology with a specialization in sustainable design.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in the field.
  • Knowledge of the Latin American market.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles, particularly with regard to the building envelope.
  • Expertise in the design of technical details.
  • Experience in commercial and/or industrial construction, institutional construction, interior and space planning, renovations, residential construction, restoration, and/or preservation.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards.
  • Experience in site supervision and construction administration.
  • Experience in cost estimation.
  • LEED Green Associate credential is required.
  • Knowledge of Passive House.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite apps, Microsoft Office programs, Sketch Up, Twin Motion, AutoCAD, and U-Bakus.
  • Good knowledge of REVIT.
