Our next Associate Development Director will be a proficient face-to-face fundraiser, capable of articulating the strategic vision of ROME GROUP and underscoring the organization's role as a crucial community asset.

A successful candidate will demonstrate high cultural awareness and emotional intelligence, fostering strong, responsive relationships with donors, colleagues, and stakeholders, showcasing exceptional communication skills across various formats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a portfolio of individual and foundation major and planned gift prospects and donors, adhering to moves management protocols;
  • Exhibit inclusive communication skills to build positive professional relationships with donors, community members, colleagues, and other stakeholders;
  • Formulate ongoing strategies, timelines, objectives, and metrics for the assigned portfolio, focusing on both annual and long-term goals in collaboration with development and organizational leadership;
  • Balance leadership and supervisory responsibilities with teamwork, adapting to situational needs;
  • Manage annual giving initiatives for significant donors and support the growth of planned giving programs;
  • Devise specific strategies leading to major gift solicitations, including high-level prospecting, scheduling communications, and coordinating activities with senior leadership;
  • Identify new prospects for various giving levels, utilizing appropriate databases and wealth research to cultivate donor relationships;
  • Craft well-structured fundraising proposals, case statements, and communications for donors and prospects, both independently and collaboratively;
  • Coordinate major gifts fundraising initiatives with other fundraising professionals as necessary;
  • Increase the number of major and planned giving donors and the funds raised from these sources;
  • Maintain accurate records in donor management software regarding all interactions with donors and prospects;
  • Collaborate with the development team to establish strategies, policies, and procedures for donor stewardship and recognition;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the significance and impact of public media in enhancing lives and a desire to work within a trusted organization that meets the educational, cultural, and informational needs of the community;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of five years in development, prospect management, donor cultivation, solicitation, or a related field;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and donor relationship skills;
  • Proven track record in achieving fundraising goals and meeting individual and departmental deadlines;
  • Familiarity with planned giving strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in major gift fundraising, campaign initiatives, planned giving, and proposal writing;
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting significant annual and campaign gifts;
  • Experience in managing and developing staff;
  • Familiarity with community-focused fundraising practices;
  • Ability to quickly learn donor software and other relevant industry tools;
  • Knowledge of public media principles.

Supervision Received: The Associate Development Director for Major Contributions reports directly to the Development Director.

Supervision Exercised: This position oversees the Development Officer for Major Gifts and provides guidance to other development staff and interns as needed.

Salary Range: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
