About the Role

We are seeking a senior metallurgist with extensive expertise in iron ore processing. The ideal candidate will have experience in magnetic separation (low and high intensity), gravity separation (hydroclassifiers and spirals), drying and dehydrating of concentrates, flotation for high-purity concentrate production, concentrate management, granulation, direct reduction processes, and operational experience. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide metallurgical expertise for all aspects of projects and studies, including IAGC projects.
  • Lead discipline teams during studies and supervise junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Conduct metallurgical tests and guide clients in project development.
  • Perform due diligence audits and manage preliminary, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Promote BBA's expertise in iron ore processing.
  • Ensure technical liaison with clients and present reports, publications, and presentations professionally.
  • Design and simulate mineral processing procedures.
  • Examine and approve mass balances, process design criteria, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, plans, and technical specifications.
  • Lead market analyses for local and global iron ore projects and participate in them.
  • Prepare, examine, and approve professional qualifications, declarations of interest, and service proposals.
  • Address various interdisciplinary technical challenges to ensure that factory verifications and process optimization solutions are implemented on time, safely, and profitably.
  • Verify, analyze, or develop process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, specifications, and technical evaluations, material and energy balances, and process design and operation parameters.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement new technologies to improve sustainable development, efficiency, and profitability of client activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mineral processing, metallurgy, chemical engineering, or mining engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in mineral processing activities.
  • Completed projects in the mining and metals sector.
  • ICM-certified professional.
  • Ability to travel frequently in Canada or abroad (> 25%).
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
