Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and caring Early Childhood Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist our early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the development of children, while also supporting the social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in Daily Operations
    • Support co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties
    • Maintain daycare equipment
  • Support Children's Development
    • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
    • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees
    • Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees
  • Support for Indigenous People and Visible Minorities
    • Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees
    • Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
    • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
Work Environment
  • Work Language: English
  • Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week
