Job Title: Director, Communications

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Communications to join our team at Brightshores. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans to align with our corporate, mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to engage with stakeholders, government, and community
  • Lead and produce reactive and crisis management materials to reduce/mitigate risk to the organization
  • Produce communication strategies to further the relations and engagement of stakeholders
  • Coach and mentor a team to develop an engaged and supported team
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Brightshores' 'CARE' Behaviours and 'LEAD' Competencies

Requirements:

  • University Degree in communications/public relations
  • 5-10 years of relevant and progressive experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic communications plans in a complex public organization, preferably in the health care industry
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Health structure and model for service delivery, key priorities of the province, and current initiatives
  • Exceptional political acumen and ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Expert knowledge in communication platforms, including social and digital
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain positive media relations
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
