Job Summary:

The Project Architect will play a key role in supporting the principals on various projects, ensuring timely completion and meeting client expectations. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced architect with a strong background in project management, design, and construction administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist or lead in all phases of design, from concept through construction administration
  • Prepare project documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Conduct field observations and site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contract documents
  • Attend client meetings and job site meetings as needed
  • Perform quality control reviews of project deliverables
  • Research code requirements and develop solutions to complex technical problems
  • Develop alternative design solutions and analyze their feasibility
  • Coordinate the work of consultants, engineers, and other disciplines involved in the project
  • Manage the production of construction documents
  • Bring a collaborative and enthusiastic attitude
  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff

Requirements:

  • 5+ years post graduate experience, preferably in BC
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an architect with AIBC
  • Passionate about design and dedicated to design excellence
  • Familiar with all aspects of the architect's role in the design and construction process
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction, preferable on high-rise or mixed-use buildings
  • Good understanding of building envelope, building detailing and building systems, as well as BCBC & VBBL
  • Familiar with sustainable design strategies and superior building energy performance targets
  • Proficient with Revit, Adobe suite, Office suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience coordinating engineering and consultant teams
  • Excellent graphic and written/verbal communication skills
  • Experience with all stages of permitting and municipal processes
