Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Surfacing Lead to join our team at Reel FX Creative Studios. As a key member of our surfacing team, you will be responsible for overseeing the surfacing process, ensuring consistent workflow, and implementing pipeline changes.

Responsibilities:


• Collaborate with supervisors and other departments to troubleshoot creative and technical issues.
• Develop and maintain efficient surfacing pipelines, including naming conventions, file management, and render protocols.
• Create and implement textures and shaders in Unreal Engine, working closely with the art team to achieve desired surface looks and feels.
• Train and mentor new hires, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the role.
• Work closely with the production designer and art director to ensure that surfacing meets the project's artistic vision.
• Develop and maintain internal documentation of workflows and processes, ensuring that knowledge is shared across the team.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in fine arts or animation, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in feature film, commercial, and/or video game production.
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Maya and Unreal Engine, or other render packages.
• Strong artistic eye for detail, with the ability to match different art references.
• Experience with Substance Painter or similar 3D painting package, and familiarity with polygonal surfacing and UV layout.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
