POSITION SUMMARY

Merrick & Company is in search of an Intermediate Architect to provide design expertise in our Ottawa, Ontario office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will be a creative, analytical, and detail-oriented professional who will contribute to architectural design solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team serving clients in the Life Sciences, Nuclear, and National Security sectors. Under the mentorship of senior architects, the selected individual will engage with clients to ascertain and articulate project requirements, model intricate facilities, and generate plans, details, and specifications. Responsibilities also include conducting construction site inspections and collaborating with other design and construction professionals to deliver high-quality building solutions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

A professional architecture degree recognized by the CACB, suitable for obtaining OAA licensure in Ontario. Current full OAA licensure is preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience. Familiarity with current building codes and modern methods of heavy commercial, institutional, and industrial construction is essential. Knowledge of laboratory codes and international design standards is a plus. Comprehensive understanding of general architectural practices, including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and construction administration. Experience in laboratory design and construction is advantageous. Proficiency in BIM software is required. Expertise in REVIT and AutoCAD is necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and colleagues, along with excellent oral presentation capabilities. Willingness to travel and possess a valid passport, including potential international travel. Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status is required for this position. Ability to obtain Government of Canada Secret level clearance is mandatory. BENEFITS
