Operations Engineer – JBoss
Location: Remote with Hybrid Flexibility
Contract Position with Potential for Extension

We are looking for a skilled Operations Delivery Engineer with a strong background in JBoss to oversee the computing infrastructure and enterprise applications that support our Corporate teams and external clients. This role demands practical technical expertise and a proactive mindset to successfully execute projects related to environment planning and implementation for servers, networking, scheduling, workflow, and security services. The focus of this position is primarily on middleware components.

Work Environment: Our teams are composed of high-performing individuals who collaborate in person as needed. This role is hybrid, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain ASP/SaaS-based production systems to ensure optimal availability, performance, scalability, and security. Establish and oversee Middleware components (JBoss or Websphere), covering all aspects of a SaaS Middleware solution. Create and maintain necessary documentation. Collaborate closely with Operations & Infrastructure team members, Project Managers, Software Developers, and Business Analysts to ensure successful project delivery. Handle general systems administration tasks, including system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, and urgent system patching. Execute software code deployments, upgrades, and provide client support as needed. Manage systems in a virtualized environment to ensure continuous availability. Assist in the migration and provisioning of various Linux/Unix servers. Develop and implement scripts to automate tasks for ongoing process improvements. Ensure critical system security through top-tier security solutions. Participate in after-hours and weekend work, as well as on-call support as required. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: Extensive hands-on experience with JEE Application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss, or Class loader policies. Proficient in VMWare Virtual Machines, with substantial experience in support and storage administration. Strong knowledge of load balancers, firewalls, switches, routers, VPN, TCP/IP, SSL, DNS, DHCP, TFTP, PXE. A collaborative team player who fosters morale and productivity across departments. Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities. Capable of understanding the impact of decisions across various disciplines. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A proactive, service-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently on projects with tight deadlines. Bachelor's degree, college diploma, or equivalent work experience. Several years of experience in System Administration for Red Hat/CentOS/RPM-based Linux. Several years of experience managing Web Application servers. Previous experience managing AIX/Unix servers is preferred. Familiarity with Python, Perl, Korn/Bash, or PowerShell scripting. Experience with automated tools, software deployment, configuration management (Ansible), and system monitoring is advantageous. Financial business experience is a plus. Preferred Skills: Experience with Oracle databases. Knowledge of SSL certificate implementation and management. Familiarity with Enterprise Schedulers such as Active Batch. Previous experience in Windows System Administration is a plus. Experience with data center migrations is considered a significant asset.
