Vancouver Island University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Off-Campus Housing Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing support and services to students seeking off-campus accommodation, ensuring a positive student experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect support to students in finding suitable off-campus housing.
- Remain current on available housing stock and promote the off-campus housing service.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local developers, non-governmental organizations, and community groups.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant legislation, including the BC Residential Tenancy Act and FIPPA.
- Track and analyze data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to enhance student experience.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a minimum of three years' related experience in a multicultural environment.
- Strong understanding of the post-secondary environment and the student experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with colleagues and the public.
- Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and problem-solving.
- Working understanding of the BC Residential Tenancy Act and familiarity with privacy legislation (FIPPA).
- Proficiency in MS Office suite of programs, particularly in Outlook, Word, and MS Teams.
- Proficiency in a language other than English.
- Knowledge of the local housing market and resources.
- Experience living in other cultures for extended periods.
- Marketing and social media skills.
