About the Role:

The Fitness Instructor is a key member of our team at VON Canada, responsible for leading fitness classes to clients under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or Physiotherapist associated with the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fitness classes to clients with various health conditions, including osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, and diabetes.
  • Work with clients to set and achieve fitness goals, providing guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Participate in ongoing reviews of service delivery processes and evaluations to ensure high-quality care.
  • Attend educational in-services and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest fitness trends and best practices.
  • May provide fall prevention education and other health-related services as directed by the Program Coordinator and/or Physiotherapist.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the Program Coordinator and/or Physiotherapist in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate.
  • CCAA Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor or equivalent required at the time of hire or within 3 months from time of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes for older adults, including experience teaching specialized classes for chronic conditions.
  • Experience promoting health and well-being through physical activity.
  • Experience working in an assisted living environment, such as recreation therapy, is an asset.
  • Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
